Claims now record why a loss happened, not just what was damaged, and how sure you are about it. That turns your claims history into a list of things you can prevent.
Each claims line has its own root causes, in categories and sub-categories such as Electrical › Loose or faulty connection for property damage or Procedures and training › Procedure not followed for liability. We've started every line with a list you can make your own under Claims → Settings.
Causes are rarely clear on day one, so every claim also has a root cause status: Not known yet, Suspected, Confirmed or Undetermined. Record a suspicion early, confirm it when the loss adjuster's report is in, and describe what happened in your own words. Every change shows in the claim's history and the activity log.
The claims list shows each claim's root cause and its status. Claims whose cause is not known yet or only suspected stand out in orange and amber, so open questions don't get lost.
Claims → Analytics has a new Root cause tab. It shows how much of your gross incurred is explained by a suspected or confirmed cause, ranks the root cause categories by gross incurred or by claims, and points out the vital few that explain 80% of your losses. Open a category to see its sub-categories.
Root cause hotspots puts every site against every root cause category, shaded by how much was lost. A number in a cell means the same cause hit that site more than once, the strongest sign that a fix there will pay off. Hover a cell for its claims and gross incurred, or click it to open those claims.
Both views take the same filters as the claims list. Select a category, a cause, a donut slice or a hotspot cell to open its claims in the list.
