Excel is good at holding numbers. Renewal is about who owes you numbers, what changed since last year and who is allowed to see them — and a file has no answer to any of it.

Who has answered

A workbook does not know it was sent. The "received" column is one you keep by hand, and every reminder is an email you write yourself.

What changed, and why

Last year is a different file. A value that doubled has no author, no date and no note — so the underwriter’s question turns into an afternoon of searching old attachments.

Who is allowed to see it

Whoever has the file has all of it. A site cannot be limited to its own row, and a broker cannot be given current values without being sent the whole workbook.

    Bulk import the site list you already have, with its hierarchy, from an Excel template — thousands of sites in one upload.

    Import last year’s values

    Upload the workbook you sent to the broker. Keep your own column headers if they match the template, review the what-if preview, then import. It runs as one transaction: it either succeeds completely or changes nothing.

    Send this year’s request from the app

    Pick the sites and the deadline. From here on, sites answer in 21RISK and your broker reads current values. The spreadsheet chase ends with the import.

Frequently asked questions

Can we keep using our current spreadsheet?

As an import, yes. If your columns match the template headers you upload the file as it is; if not, copy the columns into the template. After the first import, sites answer in 21RISK and the spreadsheet stops being the system of record.

How long does it take to switch?

Two imports: the site list and last year’s values. Nilfisk describes 21RISK as “fairly simple to implement” and “a fairly simple system to use” — the collection round runs the same way from the first period.

Do the sites need training?

Each site opens its own form and enters property damage and business-interruption values, with photos and documents attached where they help. There is no workbook to download, no macros to enable and nothing to send back.

Is it cheaper than Excel?

Excel is a tool you already own, so its price is the month of your time every renewal: the reminders, the merging and the questions you cannot answer. Nilfisk estimates 75% less time on collecting and analysing the data, and calls 21RISK “good value compared to the annual cost of having the system”. See the pricing page for the tiers.

Can our broker still get an Excel file?

Yes. Export the values table with the same columns and TIV the application shows. You can also give brokers direct access, or let their systems pull current values over the REST API, so the file they hold is never older than the data.
