Address search in bulk import

Mar 04, 2026
Address search column in the bulk import Excel template

We've just made bulk importing sites even easier — introducing the address_search column ✨

Instead of manually looking up and entering coordinates or address fields, you can now simply type a search query like "Stockholm, Sweden" or "123 Main Street, New York" and 21RISK will do the rest.

How it works

When you download the bulk import Excel template, you'll see a new address_search column. Simply type a location name, address, or landmark into this column and 21RISK will automatically:

  • Look up the location using forward geocoding
  • Fill in the full address (country, region, city, postal code, street, and more)
  • Set the latitude and longitude coordinates
  • Enable the map view for the site

This means you can go from a spreadsheet with just site names and a search query to fully addressed, map-ready sites — in seconds.

Your data always takes priority

Just like with coordinate-based lookups, the address search will never overwrite fields you've already filled in. If you provide your own values for country code, street, or any other address field alongside the search query, your values are kept.

The automatic lookup only fills in fields you've left empty.

Key benefits

  • Effortless addressing — No need to look up coordinates or spell out full addresses manually
  • Works with anything — City names, street addresses, landmarks, postal codes — just type what you know
  • Full control — Manually entered address fields are always respected
  • Works at scale — Import hundreds or thousands of sites with address search in one go
  • Combines with coordinates — Use address search for some rows and manual coordinates for others in the same import
