Hotwork permits that can't close early

The torch goes off, but the risk stays. 21RISK runs the fire watch on a clock, asks for a check-in every 15 minutes and keeps the permit locked until the watch is over.

The fire watch

The hour after the work is the one nobody fills in

Most hotwork fires start during the work or within the hour after it. That hour is also when the watch slips: a lunch break, a shift change, a welder who has moved on to the next job.

In one insurer's files, 15% of 650 fires started after a 30-minute watch had ended. That is why NFPA 51B now asks for a full hour. In 21RISK the watch starts when the work ends, and the permit stays locked until it has run.

What we are building

The procedure, enforced by the permit

CLOCK

A watch that keeps time

The fire watch starts when the work ends. Reminders go out before each check-in, and a missed one stays on the permit's record.

RULES

Your rules, per site

Start from a recognised standard, then make it stricter per country, site or kind of work. Where rules overlap, the strictest one wins.

PROOF

Proof for the insurer

Every step is timestamped on a log that can't be edited afterwards. Show the insurer how each permit ran, check-in by check-in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When can we start using hotwork permits?

We are building them now and will share a date once we are sure of it. Everyone on the waitlist hears first.

Will it follow our insurer's hotwork rules?

That is the plan. You set the watch length, the check-in interval and the precautions per country, site and kind of work. When several rules apply to one permit, the strictest one wins.

Is it a separate app?

No. Hotwork permits are part of 21RISK, next to your sites, values and risk improvements. A permit is raised against the site it belongs to.

What happens to my email?

We send you a link to confirm it, and store nothing until you click it. Once you do, you are on the waitlist and the 21RISK newsletter, and we email you when hotwork permits open. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and the details are in our privacy policy.
